About the Creator

Howdy! I’m Stacey Dawn. I am happy you have found your way to my website. My journey to living clean and green began many moons ago. I hope I can help guide you on your journey to get closer to nature. Here are some tidbits on how my journey has progressed.

I was in my mid 20’s and, very alarmingly, I was beginning to see a lot of hair fall. I had been dealing with a life-long struggle of sugar cravings and keeping my weight in check. I often was bloated, groggy, foggy, and had a terrible memory. I was finding myself impatient and easily frustrated. I dealt with constant lower back pain and knee pain. Somehow, these things had just become a way of life. I thought all of this was a normal part of being an adult, until the hair loss. I must admit my vanity may have had something to do with me deciding I was fed up. This is ironic, considering the decision to live a crunchy life also led me to give up many items of vanity, such as make-up, nail polish, curling irons, and hair dye.

Right away, I began looking into what could be causing the hair loss. I spent many nights spiraling deeper into a black hole of information regarding toxins, preservatives, and carcinagens that are openly added to our food and skincare, even products for our precious little ones. It gave me chills. I knew I had to make a choice and it was simple though it was not all that easy.

Cleaning up my diet was a struggle due largely to two factors: habit and addiciton. I was raised on hormone-laced meats, eggs, and dairy, overly processed food, and sugar. This was what I knew. If I was hungry and in a hurry I’d grab fast food or a bag of chips. There is strong scientific research suggesting that many of the preservatives in our foods, as well as the high levels of sugar, cause addiction to these foods. I have definitely fallen into the hands of those habits and cravings many times over the years. Though, I am happy to say, I now eat a mostly vegan, largely raw diet. It can be time-consuming, but, with proper planning and prep, I am able to make almost every meal at home and I don’t feel like I am missing out. Furthermore, my body thanks me for it by giving me energy, alertness, better memory, healthy locks, and smooth skin.

The other big part of my life change came with obstacles as well. I spent years sifting through and trying out many expensive bottled “organic” shampoos, soaps, lotions, lip balms, and laundry detergent. I would often discover that what I thought was a great product would actually have preservatives or fragrance in it after all. Around this time, I stumbled upon EWG.org and was entirely grateful. The Environmental Working Group helps folks get to know the ingredients in food and cosmetics and their database is constantly being updated. I still use their website today and suggest you check it out too. My research brought me to the conclusion that if I wanted a product with certain ingredients in it and only those ingredients, I was going to have to make it myself.

I started out making laundry soap at home using a recipe a good friend had given me. Next, I experimented with lotion and lip balms. Soon I was saponifying oils to make soap paste for liquid and foam soap. It was only a couple of years ago that I decided to start making cold and hot process bars of soap. My repertoire has only continued to grow. I have more ideas than each day provides me hours with which to complete, but I never stop creating.

Through all these years and trials I was mostly giving away my products, sometimes as gifts, sometimes just because. I definitely bartered a few items for jewelry, art, homemade bread, herbs from friends’ gardens, etc. In the Spring of 2020 the restaurant I was working for closed its doors due to the Coronavirus. This was the kick in the hiney I needed to finally start my own business. All these years I had dreamed and not acted. I always had some excuse, that I was working too much, too tired, too busy, the list goes on. Truly I believe fear of the unknown made me procrastinate.

I am here now! I have fine-tuned many recipes, designed a logo, a business card, and built a website. I have come so far to share my products, recipes, resources, and experiences with you. I believe everyone should have access to healthy skincare whether they purchase it or find the time to make it on their own. My website will include recipes for food and beverage as well, although I will not be selling these goods. I hope I can in someway help and inspire others to get closer to mother nature, even if it is in some small way.

I’ll leave you with something my Mom said to me years ago, a bit of advice if you will: How do you eat an elephant? –One bite at a time.
